On Saturday, July 2nd, 2011, from 11:00 am until noon,  KNOW, the Coalition for New Priorities, and other community groups,   called for bringing our troops home from Afghanistan and use the resources to create jobs and provide needed services here at home.

We met at Westnedge Ave. in Portage, near Target, and walked along the sidewalk for a few blocks.  We had signs to deliver our message of peace and justice to one of the busiest intersections in Kalamazoo County!

Each soldier in Afghanistan costs us $1 million/year.  Just bringing home 2,000 from there would provide $2 billion to solve Michigan budget crisis, and ensure that the funds are there to provide for our children’s education.

Let’s declare our independence from the war profiteers!
