3pm – 6pm Saturday, July 16, 2022   Bronson Park, Kalamazoo Michigan

Event hosts: Kalamazoo Nonviolent Opponents of War (KNOW). Co-sponsored by the Friends of Palestine.

Where: Bronson Park, downtown Kalamazoo

When: 3:00 pm – 6:00 pm, Saturday, July 16, 2022

The culture of Palestine will be featured in a family-friendly festival in Bronson Park on Saturday, July 16. The Kalamazoo community will LOVE the music, dance, food, and art on display!

There will be a traditional dance performance by the dynamic Thowra Dabke Dance Troupe, and the Mawtini Dance Troupe, from Dearborn, Michigan.  You will have a chance to join in, and Thowra will teach you how to dabke with them!

There will be a selection of Middle Eastern music provided by Fuad Foty, using traditional instruments.

Kids will love the activities at the children’s table.  Don’t miss the face painting area and animal balloons!

There will be delicious food available from several local Middle Eastern restaurants.  There will be vendor tables with art, jewelry, and henna artists.

Guest speakers will tell personal stories of their family ties to Palestine, and others will speak of why solidarity with Palestine is critically needed now more than ever.  There will be an opportunity to donate to the Palestine Children’s Relief Fund (PCRF).

Attendees are reminded to bring their own lawn chairs.  In the case of inclement weather, the event will move to the Kalamazoo Nonprofit Advocacy Coalition facility (the former First Baptist Church on 315 W. Michigan Ave., a 2-minute walk from Bronson Park).
