Candlelight Prayer Service For Immigrant Families Join Michigan United, this Thursday, October 22nd, from 6:30pm-7:30pm in Bronson Park to stand in solidarity with immigrant families as groups across the nation do the same, and call on the Fifth Circuit Court to take action and uphold the President's relief program for families! ----Jeju Island - no war base on the island of peace 7:30 pm, Wednesday, Oct. 21 Peace House 321 Phelps Ave. Kalamazoo The natives of ** Jeju Island (http://savejejunow.org/) have a long history of peacefully resisting militarism in their home. Currently, the United States is attempting to build a major naval base on the island, due to it's very strategic location. Kestrel, of the Kalamazoo Peace Center, and currently the Outreach Coordinator for KNOW, participated in the nonviolent struggle for several weeks earlier this year. She will tell us about her experiences and about the ongoing campaign to keep the warships off of Jeju Island. The event is free, though freewill donations will be accepted. Light refreshments will be served. ---The movie 'He Named Me Malala" is showing at the Alamo Drafthouse. It is a well crafted, moving movie about the Pakistani girl who at 16 years of age won the Nobel Prize for Peace. It's showing here as a film of the Kalamazoo Film Society.
